Say this out loud with me:
I’m not perfect.
I am not perfect.
I’m going to let people down.
It’s just going to happen. I’m going to let other people down.
How does that feel?
For most of us, it’s a relief. We spend so much energy afraid of disappointing someone. We hold ourselves to standards nobody could meet and call it being a good person.
01Yes, Even Me
I’m going to let you down. I’ve been showing up for these calls week after week for years now. Some calls are really good, and some are just okay.
I’m going to let my daughters down from time to time. Whoever my partner is, as much as I want her to see the best of me, I’m going to let her down too. Hopefully not permanently.
I’ll even let myself down. I’ll spend money on something and think, “Why the hell did I buy that?” We’ve all done it.
Anyone who’s been in a relationship has argued with the person they love most. Everyone who learned to ride a two-wheeler fell at least once. This whole life is built on mistakes. We don’t discover ourselves because we know who we are. We discover ourselves because we forgot, and we stumble along the way trying to remember.

02Why It’s Called Forgiveness
There’s a reason it’s called for-giving. The grace is given before the mistake ever happens.
There’s nothing you could do that would cast you out of the love that’s inherently yours. Nothing.
03Sometimes You’re the Messenger That Has to Fall
Sometimes you’ll let people down even when you do everything right. You might be reflecting something they aren’t ready to see in themselves. You might be holding the antidote to a poison they’ve carried for years, and they’re afraid the antidote will kill a part of them they aren’t ready to let go of.
So you become the bad guy. Remember A Few Good Men? Some people can’t handle the truth. Sometimes I can’t either. And sometimes I’m on a path I need to walk myself, and when someone tries to hand me the shortcut, I make them the bad person for delivering something uncomfortable.
If you’re a parent, you’ve done this. You buy the perfect gift, and your kid says, “That’s not what I wanted.”
04What If the Wrong Answer Was Right?
When I’m getting a message for someone, I check myself two, three, even four times. And I remind myself it’s not about me.
God is my source and supply. It isn’t the person in front of me, or the outcome I’m hoping for, or the payment for my time. At the same time, it’s all about me, because someone has laid their trust and vulnerability on my altar. How do I steward that?
Years ago I had breakfast in Los Angeles with a well-known psychic. He’s usually right about 95% of the time, and he was beating himself up over one reading. Things weren’t coming through, and he was sure he’d gotten it wrong.
So we talked it through. Was he trying to compensate? Pushing for an outcome? No. So I asked him, “What if the wrong information was exactly what she needed to hear?”
That’s a tough one.
05Nobody Gets to Override Your Knowing
Fourteen years ago, when I was about to start Beyond The Ordinary, I reached out to friends who see in these ways. One of them, someone I respect deeply and who is incredibly accurate, told me, “You’re not supposed to start that show. You’re meant to do something else.”
I said, “No, I’m starting the show.” 100%.
Sometimes what we need to hear is exactly what initiates us into our own knowing. Neither direction would have been wrong. But if I’d handed over something I felt that strongly because someone else saw a different thread, God only knows where I’d be.
Psychics see potential threads. One is usually lit up brightest, with a few others glowing a little dimmer. But it isn’t my decision which one someone walks. All I can do is show them what I see, or sometimes just hold a steady space and let them choose.
And the thing you think you want might be the smaller version. I might picture a beautiful beachfront home in Hawaiʻi. But maybe what I really want is to build the steps to get there, and those steps take me somewhere I never expected. Maybe I end up in Utah.
06Give Yourself Permission
I believe everyone reading this is tuned in, whether you know it or not.
So what permission are you giving yourself? When you get a feeling to turn right instead of left, do you follow it? When you think of someone and they call a minute later, do you shrug it off as a coincidence?

Start playing with it. Trust it. And trust your mistakes too, because maybe they weren’t mistakes.
When I get a precise message, I’ll say, “Here’s what I’m seeing, but don’t hold me to timelines.” Sometimes it’s a “prepare for the worst, hope for the best” situation. If you know something is possible, you won’t be completely blindsided if it happens.
And honestly, I think the greatest gift of a reading is the presence. Someone feels safe enough to sit with you and ask, “What do you see?”
07What Are You Devoted To?
The vision you see may not come true in exactly that form. But the feeling of it will show up somehow, because it’s alive in your field.
What carries you there is trust and faith. And what carries trust and faith is devotion.
You say you want to help the world, to be happy, to be successful. What are you actually devoted to? Can you stay with it and not get distracted by every shiny object promising a shortcut?
08Thank You for Not Choosing Me
I’ve been building a podcast network, and it’s been going beautifully. There’s even been talk of a significant investment that could take it to another level entirely.
Then communication slowed down. People were traveling. And I caught myself grinding. I have to do this. Where’s that conversation? Why hasn’t anyone gotten back to me?
So I paused. That money isn’t my source or my supply. If it’s aligned, it’ll land. God is my only source and supply.
And if someone does let me down, they’re really only letting my ego down. They might be freeing me from something that was never aligned in the first place. So I can say, “Thank you. Thank you for choosing me by not choosing me.”
Everybody and everything is our teacher right now.
09Walking Away From a Blank Page
For my documentary series, a production company wanted me to sign a contract with an exhibit that was completely blank. They also wanted 100% ownership forever, even though they weren’t the ones funding it.

I tried to make it work for a while. My entertainment attorney told me I’d be crazy to sign it. Eventually they said they had “contract fatigue” and walked away.
I knew I’d been protected from something. Then my editor lost my drives. So I stopped pushing and let the project breathe.
In that stillness, two new doors opened that I never went looking for. I don’t know yet where they’ll lead. But I know I can’t force this right now, and I’m curious where source wants to take it.
10Selfish in the Best Way
Where can you be selfishly focused on your own alignment?
When I give from an overflowing cup, the water is clear. It isn’t muddy with expectations about how things have to go or how someone has to show up for me.
Expectation often means we’re mortgaging our happiness. We’re trying to make a relationship meet us in some imagined future instead of meeting it as it is now. It helps to ask where you’re putting your well-being in someone else’s hands, and why.
The future we’re creating isn’t going to be built on our past anymore.
11Own Your Impact
Last year something landed in me about Beyond The Ordinary. For years, when people told me how much the show had helped them, I’d brush it off. “Yeah, the speakers are great.”
Then it hit me. The show has been significantly impactful. And it’s okay for me to say so. It’s just the truth.
That means I also get to own the impact I’ve had in harder ways. In my marriage, in past relationships, and in how I wish I’d shown up for my daughters. Where I let them down. Where I wasn’t perfect. I can say my heart was in the right place. Maybe it wasn’t at the time.
I don’t know.
Actually, I do know.
When we can accept all of it, we don’t have to bypass it anymore. And the cost of living in the dense end of things gets way too high. When we’re more aligned, life shows us fast when we’re off.
I learned this with the show. Sometimes someone would push me to book a speaker who was supposedly huge and would sell a lot of packages. I wasn’t really feeling them, but I’d say yes anyway. Almost every time, the episode fell flat. Hardly anyone showed up. I’d risked my integrity with this community for a promise, and the show let me know.
12Clear Your Field
If you hold space for people, whether it’s readings, hard meetings, hospital visits, or even an angry call with a telemarketer, clear your energy afterward.
Wash your hands with salt. Breathe up your central channel and let that golden thread expand. Sage can help, but the intention you bring matters more than the sage.

This matters because it adds up. A lot of what we call “picking up on the collective” is really stuff we absorbed from our own interactions and never let go of.
13About That “Bypassing” Accusation
Bypassing gets blamed for a lot. But when we drop into deep meditation and reach higher states, we’re skipping some things we don’t need to repeat, because we’ve already lived them.
If you know the shortcut, and you’ve really embodied what that road had to teach you, why wouldn’t you take it? You’re not burying your head in the sand.
Sure, some people try to skip the work. I’ve sat in plenty of ayahuasca ceremonies with people hoping the medicine would do everything for them. It’ll help you enough to keep going on your journey. We all still go through our initiations.
14If You Were Reborn Today
Here’s a question for you. If you died and were reborn with a completely clean slate, who would you be? What would you choose in every relationship?
You’re new every day from here on. The old structures are losing their charge, in the world and in you. None of what came before was wrong. You just get to choose again.
Think about people at the airport heading on vacation. They dress one way at the office, and then suddenly they’re completely different characters. You get to be that new character now. You’re a kid let loose in an amusement park, deciding which ride to go on and how much to risk.
The kids who color outside the lines usually have more fun. You don’t have to be bad. You just get to play a little more, take some risks, and know you’ll get back up if you fall.

15Five Minutes of Zero Point
Take five minutes a day and sit in that empty space. Go to the top of the funnel and just be in the presence of creation.
It doesn’t need to give you instructions. There doesn’t need to be a booming voice. Just build a relationship with the stillness, and watch what it does to how you meet life.

And say this one with me before you go:
I am secure.
If I knew my foundation was stable, I could do anything. And if I fell, I’d know it would hold me.
I am secure.
